I qualified with my MA in Music Therapy with a Distinction and a starred award for my exceptional work in my research project. Since qualifying, I have provided a variety of education settings with music therapy services. This ranges from schools for young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, to my current setting working with adolescents who have been excluded repeatedly from schools and are need of reengagement to support them back into the education system.
I always bring a non-judgemental, client-centred approach to my work with an emphasis on holding a client's wider support network to account. I work to make sure that my work is understandable by all stakeholders in my client's life in order to ensure the work they do during my time with them can be best complimented in all areas of their life. I use my musical skills to bring out the best of my client's creativity, and ultimately encourage them to increase their self-advocacy and confidence levels.
I work to increase the profile of music therapy through the creation of music therapy assessments - most notably SEMTA©. I am also a proud member of the board of governors for The Music Therapy Charity, supporting them to drive forward their vision for change.
